Videography
Field cinematography and documentary video from volcanic and remote environments.
Field based storytelling
Marco approaches video as a sequence rather than as a collection of isolated shots. In the field, he builds sequences from wide establishing views, closer observational details, movement, natural sound and, where relevant, interviews. This gives editors and production teams enough visual and audio material to shape the final story.
The emphasis is on clarity, pacing, and continuity. Camera movement and composition are used when they help explain place, scale, or action, while ambient sound and quieter moments are treated as part of the narrative rather than simply as background. The aim is footage that can work both as immediate coverage and as part of a longer documentary sequence.
From location to final delivery
Marco works with Sony A1 II, A7 IV and A7 III camera bodies, alongside a DJI Mavic 4 Pro drone, selecting the setup according to the assignment, mobility required, and intended output. When working in remote areas with challenging logistics, he keeps the kit compact and flexible without sacrificing the image quality or range of material needed for professional production.
Projects can cover the moving-image workflow:
Work can be delivered as individual clips, edited sequences, or complete video pieces depending on the project.
Broadcast and digital presence
Marco’s video work has been distributed internationally through the Associated Press and used by broadcasters and digital outlets including BBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, Corriere della Sera, and RAI. Footage produced for breaking news can be delivered quickly as individual clips or sequences, while longer-form material can be prepared for documentary, editorial, and digital use.
Marco also publishes selected video projects through his own channels, including longer work on volcanic activity, landscapes, and field work that falls outside individual assignments.

Available for documentary, editorial, and branded projects
Marco is available for documentary, editorial, commercial, and branded video projects in Iceland and internationally. Assignments can range from short field shoots and interview-based pieces to longer productions requiring a consistent visual approach across multiple locations or shooting days.
He can work independently as a cinematographer and camera operator, or integrate into a larger production team, adapting the shooting style and delivery workflow to the requirements of the project.
Video production strengths
Projects that require broader local coordination, scouting, permits, logistics, or production support in Iceland can also be developed through Marco’s Production Support services.
Existing video footage may also be available for licensed use through the Licensing page.
Selected recent field productions for news
Recent video assignments include coverage of the Reykjanes volcanic activity from 2021 onward, documenting active eruptions, evacuations, infrastructure impacts, emergency response, and the changing conditions around Grindavík and the Sundhnúkagígar volcanic system.
The footage has been produced for rapid editorial use and also builds a longer visual record of how the volcanic crisis has developed over time. Selected examples below show different approaches to field coverage, from breaking-news sequences to more observational material.
