Production Support
Field production planning, location scouting, and on-site support for documentary, editorial, and television crews in Iceland and beyond.
Field support for productions
Production work in Iceland often depends on decisions made before the cameras arrive on location. Distances, changing weather, road conditions, protected areas, permits, and the availability of local services can all affect what is realistically achievable within a schedule.
Marco works with productions to translate a creative or editorial brief into a practical field plan, identifying suitable locations, potential restrictions, realistic travel times, and the local coordination required before and during filming. The goal is to reduce avoidable uncertainty while keeping enough flexibility to respond to changing conditions in the field.
Production support services
Vehicles, specialist equipment, accommodation, and other logistical services can be arranged through appropriate third-party providers when required by the production.

Trusted by international productions
Marco regularly works in environments where editorial deadlines, changing conditions, and practical production requirements have to be managed at the same time. His experience includes work with international media and visiting production teams in Iceland, particularly on stories connected to volcanic activity, extreme weather, remote landscapes, and environmental subjects.
His background in visual journalism also helps him understand the needs of camera crews and editors in the field, including the importance of timing, continuity, accurate location information, and realistic shooting schedules.
Safety, permits and local coordination
Filming in Iceland can involve protected areas, temporary closures, changing hazard zones, drone restrictions, private land, and conditions that evolve faster than a production schedule. Marco can help crews identify the relevant requirements and understand which authorities, landowners, or organisations need to be contacted before work begins.
Depending on the project, this may include coordination or information gathering involving bodies such as Samgöngustofa, Umhverfisstofnun, Almannavarnir, municipalities, landowners, or local operators. The exact process varies by location and type of production, so requirements are assessed according to the specific project rather than treated as a standard checklist.
During filming, local knowledge can also help crews adjust plans when roads close, weather changes, volcanic activity affects an area, or a planned location becomes impractical. Field production will always involve some uncertainty, but better information makes it easier to adjust plans and work with realistic alternatives.
Geographic coverage
Marco provides production support throughout Iceland, with regular field experience across Reykjavík and the southwest, the Reykjanes Peninsula, the South Coast, the Highlands, the north and east of the country, and other remote areas where logistics and conditions require additional planning.
He also works regularly in Sicily, including Mount Etna and Stromboli, and can support selected productions elsewhere when his experience with volcanic environments, remote locations, or field logistics is relevant to the project.
Availability
Production support can be arranged for individual scouting or research tasks, pre-production periods, single shooting days, or longer assignments with a visiting crew. Availability depends on the location, schedule, and level of involvement required, particularly for projects involving remote areas or rapidly changing conditions.
Early contact is recommended when permits, location research, specialist logistics, or coordination with third parties may be required before filming begins.
When a production also requires an additional camera or drone operator, this can be combined with Marco’s Videography services.
