Learn, explore, and photograph Iceland through guided field experiences.

Marco’s photo tours and workshops are scheduled photography trips built around time in the field, changing light, weather, and the conditions on location. Rather than moving quickly between viewpoints, the aim is to spend enough time in each place to observe, work through compositions, and respond to what is actually happening.

Marco leads the photographic side of each trip, combining travel through Iceland and other selected locations with practical guidance adapted to the experience of the group. Depending on the season and itinerary, programs may include volcanic areas, glaciers, waterfalls, coastlines, lava fields, the Highlands, and winter or summer light.

Tours and workshops are operated in collaboration with licensed Icelandic travel partners, while Marco leads the photographic program and field instruction.

Learn photography in the field

Teaching takes place primarily on location and adapts to the conditions rather than following a fixed classroom program. Guidance can cover composition, exposure, use of light, visual storytelling, and the practical decisions involved in working in changing environments.

Participants can work at different levels and at their own pace. The amount of instruction, feedback, and individual guidance depends on the format of the trip and on each photographer’s experience.

Photo workshops and photo tours

  • Photo Workshops: multi day experiences with a stronger emphasis on technique, composition, feedback, and image review. Depending on the program, sessions may also include editing demonstrations or group reviews during suitable downtime.
  • Photo Tours: photography led trips focused primarily on timing, light, and location choice, with practical guidance and individual feedback available throughout the trip.

Both formats allow participants to work at their own pace. The difference is mainly the amount of structured teaching, not the level of photographic experience required.

Across Iceland, through the seasons

Programs are scheduled in different parts of Iceland according to season and conditions, including the South Coast, Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Highlands, and volcanic areas.

Winter trips can focus on low angle light, ice, auroras, coastal landscapes, and winter weather. Summer programs make greater use of the Highlands, long evenings, waterfalls, and areas that are accessible only during the warmer months.

Future programs may also include Mount Etna, Stromboli, and selected destinations outside Iceland when suitable itineraries are developed.

Operated with licensed travel partners

Scheduled tours and workshops are operated in collaboration with licensed Icelandic travel partners. The operating partner is responsible for the travel services included in the program, such as transport and accommodation, and handles the relevant bookings, contracts, and payments directly with participants.

Marco leads the photographic program and field instruction and, where appropriate, can also work as a licensed driver-guide within the operating partner’s framework. For smaller groups, this can combine driving, local guidance, and photographic instruction in a single role, while larger groups are operated with a dedicated driver.

Before departure, participants receive practical information and equipment recommendations. Depending on the program, online meetings may also be arranged before or after the trip to discuss preparation, expectations, images, or follow up questions.
