Iceland Trip Planning

Personalized travel consultations to help you plan your Iceland journey with local insight and photographic perspective.

Marco offers personalized trip planning consultations to help travelers design meaningful, efficient, and well timed itineraries across Iceland. Each consultation starts from your specific interests, schedule, and travel style, then builds a route that makes sense on the map and in real conditions, not just on paper.

Every plan is tailored to your goals, whether you want iconic landscapes, quieter areas away from the main circuits, photography at the right time of day, or a mix of interests in one trip. You receive practical guidance on routes, seasonal timing, driving distances, safety, overnight stops, services, and backup options when conditions change.

This is an independent advisory service, not a tour operator activity. You receive a structured plan and clear recommendations, then you book directly with the providers you choose.

Tailored advice for travelers and photographers

Each consultation is designed to save you time, avoid common planning mistakes, and maximize your Iceland experience.
Depending on your needs, the service can include:

  • Itinerary design: structured day-by-day or region-based route suggestions adapted to your travel dates and pace.
  • Location advice: which areas, sites, and hidden gems best fit your interests or photographic goals.
  • Logistics optimization: driving times, road conditions, fuel stops, and alternative routes.
  • Weather and safety planning: how to adapt to Iceland’s changing conditions and daylight patterns.
  • Photography focus (optional): timing for light, shooting advice, and photo-location mapping.

Every plan is custom built for the specific traveler.
There are no templates and no fixed routes, only itineraries designed around the actual conditions and goals of each trip.

Simple and transparent process

  1. Inquiry: You start by sending a short message with your travel dates, group size, interests, and your Iceland experience level. If you already have a draft itinerary or bookings, include them.
  2. Questionnaire: Marco replies with a short questionnaire to understand your priorities (photography, hiking, volcanology, pace, comfort level, driving confidence, and season constraints).
  3. Quote and confirmation: Based on your answers, Marco estimates the work in hours and sends a fixed quote with scope, what is included, delivery timing, and total fee. The quote includes a clear cap so you do not get surprises.
  4. Payment: After you approve the quote, payment is made upfront so Marco can schedule the work. Bank transfer (SEPA) is the preferred method. If you want to pay by card, Marco can send a secure card link. PayPal is also available on request, but the total may be slightly higher to cover PayPal processing costs.
  5. Consultation and Optional Call: If it helps, we can do a 60 minute Zoom or Google Meet call to refine details. The call is optional and is included within the estimated hours in your quote. Many travelers prefer to handle everything in writing by email.
  6. Delivery: You receive a PDF or detailed email report with your itinerary structure, realistic daily pacing, recommendations, and practical notes such as timing, safety considerations, road conditions, and logistics.
  7. Follow-up support: Every consultation includes follow-up by email for clarifications before your trip. One revision round is included. Additional changes or new requests can be handled at the same hourly rate.

Travel Across Iceland’s Key Regions

Trip planning is available for all regions of Iceland, including the Golden Circle, South Coast, Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Highlands, Westfjords, and volcanic zones.
Plans can cover both summer and winter seasons, accounting for road access, light conditions, and seasonal hazards. Specialized advice is available for photographers, filmmakers, and scientific travelers, integrating field awareness and visual opportunities.
You can also request guidance for extended travel through Iceland and selected volcanic regions abroad, such as Etna and Stromboli.

Independent advisory service

This is an advisory and consulting service, not a tour-operator activity.
I don’t sell or resell travel services, handle bookings, take payments for third-party suppliers, or pass personal data to them.
All bookings are made directly by you with the providers you select.

This structure keeps the service compliant with Icelandic and EU tourism regulations, avoiding “linked travel arrangement” facilitation under the Ferðamálastofa framework.
When itineraries require booked arrangements, I can recommend licensed partner travel agencies to handle them.

  • Driving times, pacing, and seasonal constraints
