Private & Custom Tours

Personalized day and multi-day experiences across Iceland, guided with local knowledge and field expertise.

Private and custom tours offer a flexible way to explore Iceland with a personalised itinerary and the insight of a local guide. Each journey is built around your pace, schedule, and interests, whether you want a focused one day trip from Reykjavík, a few targeted days around a specific region, or a longer route that crosses several parts of the country. Planning takes into account distance, daylight, weather patterns, and road conditions so the itinerary makes sense on the ground, not just on a map.

Tours are led personally by Marco.
Driving, navigation, and route decisions are handled for you, leaving you free to concentrate on what you came for, whether that is landscapes, photography, local culture, or simply traveling without rush. Time is set aside at key locations so you are not just stopping for quick snapshots. When guests are interested in photography, guidance can cover composition, timing, and practical field choices tailored to each person’s level and equipment.

All experiences are organised in collaboration with licensed Icelandic travel partners, who manage the operational side such as vehicle licensing, compliance, and formal tour operation under national tourism regulations.
This structure keeps logistics and safety within the official framework while allowing Marco to focus on locations, conditions, and the quality of the time spent on site.

Travel your way, with full attention and freedom

Every private tour is built around your preferences for locations, timing, and level of activity. You can choose a slower pace with fewer stops, or a more intensive day with several key locations. Plans stay flexible on purpose, so they can be adjusted for weather, light, or a change of interests during the day instead of following a fixed group schedule.

While many guests choose photography focused experiences, private tours are open to anyone who wants to see Iceland’s most interesting places with informed, honest guidance. You decide how much of the day is dedicated to photo mentoring, how much to local context and conversation, and how much is simply quiet travel with a professional who knows the routes, conditions, and what is realistic within your available time.

Day tours or multi-day adventures

Private tours are available year round and can range from a single full day to extended itineraries that link several regions of Iceland. You can plan anything from a focused day out from Reykjavík to a multi day journey that follows a specific theme or area, with timing and route adjusted to season, road conditions, and your interests.

Typical options include:

  • Day tours from Reykjavík: South Coast, Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Reykjanes volcanic area, or Golden Circle.
  • Multi-day tours: flexible routes that can combine Highlands (in summer season), iconic spots and less known ones, waterfalls, glaciers, and coastal landscapes.
  • Custom requests: solutions that combine regions or adding specific photographic goals are always welcome.

Each itinerary is designed to make sensible use of time, comfort, and daylight, while keeping driving distances realistic and taking seasonal road and weather conditions into account.

Field insight and photography guidance

Marco is a licensed driver guide with years of field experience in some of Iceland’s most active and remote environments. Photography guidance is available on request, from basic camera handling and practical settings to composition choices and reading light on location. Explanations are adjusted to each participant’s level and interests so the day stays relaxed and personal rather than technical for its own sake.

Tours can be conducted in English or Italian, and the focus can be tailored for travelers, photographers, journalists, or filmmakers who need specific access, scouting, or thematic coverage.

Operated with licensed travel partners

All logistical elements, including vehicles, accommodation, and bookings, are handled by certified Icelandic travel agencies that hold the appropriate travel licences and operate under national tourism regulations. Contracts and payments for those services are made directly with the partner agency. Marco’s role on these trips is limited to guiding and instruction, with his attention on field experience, locations, timing, storytelling and/or photographic support rather than on selling or operating travel packages.

This structure keeps full compliance with Icelandic law under Ferðamálastofa oversight and maintains a clear separation between licensed tour operation and guiding services. Partner agencies are responsible for transport, accommodation, and other booked services when they are part of an itinerary, while Marco provides the added value of local field knowledge and, when requested, photography mentoring and on site decision making about where and when to work.

Design your perfect experience

Private and custom tours are built individually to match your schedule, interests, and preferred level of activity.
To receive a concrete proposal, please include in your request:

  • Travel period and total duration
  • Number of participants
  • Areas or themes of interest (for example volcanoes, glaciers, coastline, culture, photography)
  • Level of photography guidance desired (none, basic, or more in depth)

With this information it is possible to suggest realistic routes, daily structure, and an outline that fits both your goals and the season.
